After meeting one lonely Friday night at a bar, Russell (Tom Cullen) and Glen (Chris New) find themselves caught up in a weekend full of sex, drugs, and intimate conversation. Although they have conflicting ideas of what it is they want from life — and certainly about how to get it —- they form a startling emotional connection that will clearly resonate far beyond Monday morning. This is Andrew Haigh’s Weekend, the staggeringly romantic 2011 film is already widely regard as one of the best queer films of all time (in fact, this BFI poll ranked it #2, only behind Todd Haynes’ Carol). And we could not be more excited to be screening it as our June Queer Cinema Club.
